GENERAL

A1 : TMCBAS is the acronym of The Muslim Community Benevolent Association of Singapore. It is launched in 1965 to enable members of the Muslim community to benefit from the various assistance provided by the Association, eg 

• the death of a member or any of the member’s registered dependents.

• Hospitalization Assistance for a member or a member’s spouse is hospitalized.

• To grant Study Awards to member’s children.

• To grant Financial Hardship Scheme to help incapacitated members.  

A2 : Members shall be admitted once his/her application has been approved. Every successful applicant who has been admitted shall make payment of the entrance and subscription fees in order to acquire all rights and liabilities of a member of the Association as stated in its by-laws. Hence, he is deemed to be a lifelong member unless a member ceased to be a member of the Association. 

A3 :  Every application for membership shall be made on a membership form prescribed by the Committee. The process would involve an accurate completion of details by an applicant, and approval from the Chairman and Honorary Secretary. The online approval will expedite the process while manual processing would take a longer time.

A4 :  Muslim Community portal has an account for all eligible members that allows members to read about the latest association news. It is where members can express their interest in attending an event. It is where members can submit claims for member benefits. A password will assign to members to log-in.

A5 :  On your dashboard, see Forms.

A6 :  You may contact Al-Hakeem Funeral Services directly. Its 24/7 contactable mobile are 93851125 and 96533317. The company provides complete funeral management services.

A7 : Please refer to the user guides or contact us, if you need any assistance on using Muslim Community portal.

A8 : At the member account login page, click on Forget Password. You will then be prompted to key in the NRIC number and e-mail address.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

A9 : Study Awards are open to members’ registered children under the age of 21 years. There are 2 types of Study Awards; Merit Award and Incentive Award.

Subject to the availability of Funds, only a member who has completed one year’s continuous membership and who is not in arrears of subscription shall be entitled to apply for study awards for his/her children.

Application for the awards is open only to member’s children who are studying full-time in government or government-aided schools or Madrasah.

Application should be made in respect of either a Merit Award or Incentive Award and not both; and

Member applying for Incentive Award should satisfy the Study Awards Committee that they are in dire need of such assistance.

A10 : The list of TMCBAS’ Assistances are as follows:

Death Assistance – Member and the registered dependents are entitled to Death Assistance.

Hospitalisation Assistance – A member for at least one year or the spouse of such member, who has been hospitalised in Singapore, shall be eligible to a minimum of $10.00 per day and up to a maximum period of 60 days.

Study Awards – Member’s registered children under the age of 21 years are entitled to either Merit Award or Incentive Award. His/her parent has been a member for at least one year without a break.

Financial Hardship Scheme – Regardless of age, member is assessed to be permanently incapable as certified by approved medical authorities or Invalid member of advanced age under the following conditions:  

o Age at least 75 years old

o At least 10 years’ membership; and

o Facing chronic health issues

A11 :  No member or any of his children, who is in receipt of any fellowship or scholarship or bursary from the Government or private Organizations, shall be eligible to apply for or hold any award under Study Award unless they opt to forfeit such fellowship or scholarship or bursary.

A12 : Applications must be made on the prescribed form. The form can be requested via email to [email protected] OR submit directly from the Association’s website www.muslimcommunity.sg

A13 : The Death Assistance does not only benefit TMCBAS’s members but is also extended to member’s registered dependents to meet funeral expenses upon death.

In addition, there are 3 other benefits, as follows: –

• Hospitalisation Assistance that covers member & member’s spouse.

• Study Awards for a registered member’s child below 21 years of age, who

– excelled in examination, inclusive madrasah; and

– members in dire need of financial support though their children did not perform well in the examination.

• Financial Hardship Scheme to assist members, who are incapacitated.

Note:

Member to nominate a person as a “nominee”, as a recipient of financial assistance for death and hospitalization on member’s behalf. The “nominee” must not be less than 21 years of age.

CLAIMS

A14 : If you have any enquiries about claim and other matters you may want to contact the mobile at 9672 6101 (Mr Darulhisham Dahalan) or 8168 5422 (Mr Mohd Yahaya Kadri).

A15 : Only a member who has been a member for at least one year without a break, or the spouse of such member, is entitled to receive hospitalisation benefit.  

Eligible members are entitled to a minimum of $10.00 per day and up to a maximum period of 60 days in a calendar year. For childbirth cases, the hospitalisation benefit will be awarded not more than three times per member.

FEES

A16 : Currently, members’ monthly subscription fee can be paid using Fund Transfer to Association’s DBS bank account.

A17 : Currently, members who serve the Singapore Customs and the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority will have their monthly subscription fees deducted via their salary. Those who are retired and subsequently on re-employment contract will have the deduction arrangement ceased.  As such, payment of subscription fee by such member will be made to Association’s account by fund transfer.

A18 : A member monthly subscription fee shall be $8.00. In addition, a new member shall pay entrance fee of $3.00. This is a onetime payment.

A19 : Yes, you can make online payment of subscription by members via online platform.

Payment via Stripe can be made using credit or debit cards. The following credit cards are supported.

a) MasterCard

b) Visa 

c) American Express (Amex)

Alternatively, if you wish to transact with Mobile App are via DBS Paylah/Paynow, OCBC Pay Anyone or UOB Mighty App. Cash and Cheque are another mean of payment of subscription allowed by the Association.

A20 : The Committee will notify successful applicants once their applications have been approved. Subsequently, official e-Receipts will be issued for subscription received by the Association from members.

Q6 :  In the event of a demise, who should I contact to arrange for funeral service? Does the funeral service include an Ustaz and other necessary arrangements (e.g. transport)?

A8 : At the member account login page, click on Forget Password. You will then be prompted to key in the NRIC number and e-mail address.

Q11 : If I have applied for other Community Care Assistance through the Social Service Office (SSO), can I still apply for TMCBAS Study Awards?

A11 :  No member or any of his children, who is in receipt of any fellowship or scholarship or bursary from the Government or private Organizations, shall be eligible to apply for or hold any award under Study Award unless they opt to forfeit such fellowship or scholarship or bursary.

 

Q12 : What are the documents I need to apply for the Study Awards?

A12 : Applications must be made on the prescribed form. The form can be requested via email to [email protected] OR be downloaded directly from the Association’s website www.muslimcommunity.sg

 

Q13 : What are the benefits offered by TMCBAS?

A13 : The Death Assistance does not only benefit TMCBAS’s members but is also extended to member’s registered dependents to meet funeral expenses upon death.

Q15 : How many times can a member make hospitalisation claims in a year?

A15 : Only a member who has been a member for at least one year without a break, or the spouse of such member, is entitled to receive hospitalisation benefit.  

Eligible members are entitled to a minimum of $10.00 per day and up to a maximum period of 60 days in a calendar year. For childbirth cases, the hospitalisation benefit will be awarded not more than three times per member.

 

FEES

Q16 : Can the membership fees be automatically deducted through Pac@Gov or can it be done via Giro?

A16 : Currently, members’ monthly subscription fee can be paid using Fund Transfer to Association’s DBS bank account.

 

Q17 : I will retire at the age of 62. Will the payment of subscription fees continue to be deducted from my salary?

A17 : Currently, members who serve the Singapore Customs and the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority will have their monthly subscription fees deducted via their salary. Those who are retired and subsequently on re-employment contract will have the deduction arrangement ceased.  As such, payment of subscription fee by such member will be made to Association’s account by fund transfer.

 

Q18 :  How much are the membership fees?
